Social Integration Through Informal Dialogue
The project was created to promote dialogue as a tool for integration by organizing events called Open Cafe. It aims to create a place which brings different people together, in a safe and open space, which encourages dialogue and inclusion. Also, the goal is to give young people the opportunity to express their own voice, feelings, thoughts, dreams and visions. Open Cafe events take place in 4 different cities across Europe: Rzeszow in Poland, Magenta in Italy, Malmo in Sweden and Patras in Greece.
With a cup of coffee or tea, participants of Open Cafe have the opportunity to discuss about different topics, share your experiences and be a part of intercultural workshops and activities. The events is an open space for you to gain knowledge and be aware of local and international issues of our society.
Open Cafe is organized by volunteers of the partner organizations of this project. In order to be able to facilitate the events, they received the following support:
– the training on event management and promotion (Rzeszow, Poland, April 2019)
– the training on cultural sensitivity (Lund, Sweden in December 2019)
– the study visit to different organizations which work with the integration of migrants (Arma di Taggia, October 2020)
The project aims also at inspiring other organizations to start hosting such events in their communities. For this reason, the partner organizations are going to publish a guide on how to organize Open Cafe as well as a they will lunch a series of videos presenting examples of the activities.
